John Lance "Jack" Geoghegan, (November 10, 1941 - November 15, 1965) was an infantry lieutenant killed during the Battle of Ia Drang during the Vietnam War. Military career. Geoghegan attended the Pennsylvania Military College and, upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.. Without hesitation, Lieutenant Geoghegan rose from his foxhole command post and selflessly exposed himself to the sheets of enemy fire as he ran out to assist his wounded trooper, receiving fatal.
