IIRC, the Alpine has a reverse wire that gets connected to the vehicle harness. this should turn on or off your camera automatically. If so, this would mean you are correct about getting power from the red wire full time. Less camera boot-up time should equal faster camera upon reverse gear selection.. I have recently purchased the alpine unit with all needed harnesses for steering wheel controls, blue tooth by pass ect. The kit also came with a camera. My goal is to wire the camera in a way that the screen will auto sense reverse and turn on, but also want the ability to live view the camera while driving forward.
Whats going YouTube, today we're taking a look at how to hard-wire any aftermarket camera to an Alpine direct camera plug. This is a fairly straight forward.. I'm trying to hardwire an Alpine HCE-C2100RD backup camera to a Alpine ILX-407 but can't get it to work. Does anyone know what the green and white wire are for? Discussion. RTFM, there's a way to see the camera manually, and also a way to check if the reverse wire is working as it should.
