Academic dishonesty in a virtual world THE MERCURY

Here at Simpson College, academic dishonesty is not a light subject. Simpson trusts its students to show honesty and integrity in all situations, and a violation of that trust is never condoned. So far, there have already been 9 cases of academic dishonesty for this school year.. Fostering an appreciation for academic standards and values is a shared responsibility among students, faculty, and staff. The information in this brochure is directed to students to define academic dishonesty and how to avoid it. Definition of Academic Dishonesty Purdue prohibits "dishonesty in connection with any University activity.

Preparing answers or writing notes in a blue book (exam booklet) before an examination. Allowing others to research and write assigned papers or do assigned projects, including using commercial term paper services. Giving assistance to acts of academic misconduct/ dishonesty. Fabricating data (in whole or in part).. Collaboration and sharing information are characteristics of academic communities. These become violations when they involve dishonesty. Faculty members should make clear to students expectations about collaboration and information sharing. Students should seek clarification when in doubt.
